Azalea Joins Forces with Ocean Purpose Project to Clean Up Pasir Ris Beach

On October 26 2023, Azalea collaborated with Ocean Purpose Project (“OPP”), to clean up parts of Pasir Ris beach.

The Ocean Purpose Project is a Singapore-based social enterprise that drives ocean conservation and plastic pollution prevention. They are leaders in community beach cleanups, viral sustainability & blue carbon marketing, plastic to hydrogen technologies and seaweed bioremediation.

Through their plastic to hydrogen technologies and seaweed bioremediation, Ocean Purpose Project can chemically recycle plastic litter and provide fuel to local communities1 while producing sustainable plastic2 derived from seaweed and mussels. As over 14 million tonnes of plastic3 debris spill into oceans every year, social enterprises such as OPP need our support.

While participating in their beach clean-up initiative, we helped play our part in clearing waste from Pasir Ris Beach. As a team, we collected 191.2 kg of trash: plastics, seaweed, and general waste. We learnt firsthand how we can contribute to the preservation of our ecosystem as part of the community.
